Regenesome Inc. Files a Joint Patent Application on a Method for Efficiently Measuring DNA Methylation and a CpG Methylation Marker Set
Regenesome Inc. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Zentaro Sakuma; hereinafter “Regenesome”), filed a patent application on July 10, 2026 covering a method for efficiently measuring DNA methylation in genomic DNA and a CpG methylation marker set used in that method.
The application is the result of joint research with researchers at Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy and Gifu University, and was filed jointly by four institutions. Building on this application, the Company and Regenesome will examine applications in aging research and preventive healthcare.

Background ! epigenetics, or how to “measure aging”
DNA methylation is a central mechanism of epigenetics: it switches genes on and off without rewriting the genetic information a person is born with. Because these patterns shift in a regular manner as we age, research on estimating a person’s “biological age” by reading DNA methylation ! often referred to as an epigenetic clock ! has been expanding in the field of aging research.
Conventional measurement, however, has required costly, large-scale analysis, and cost, simplicity, and the interpretability of results have remained challenges.
The epigenetic clock: DNA methylation patterns change regularly with age, and biological age is estimated from those patterns
About the measurement of DNA methylation
The invention is based on the idea of first narrowing down, in an efficient manner, the regions of DNA to be measured, and then reading the base sequence together with the methylation status. It also defines a set of CpG methylation markers that serve as indicators for such measurement.
This release does not discuss the specific configurations or conditions of the measurement method; it announces the fact of the filing and the direction of the research.

Outlook
Building on this application, the Company and Regenesome will examine applications in aging research and preventive healthcare, and will work to bring a simpler way of measuring DNA methylation to research settings and to everyday health management. Starting from this domestic filing, the Company is also considering an international application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
Specific products, services, timing, and specifications have not been determined. The Company will provide further information once these are confirmed.
Comment from Kengo Suzuki, Representative Director, Space Seed Holdings Inc.
“Aging is no longer something we simply accept: it is becoming something we can measure, understand, and act upon. The starting point is to measure it accurately, in a form within everyone’s reach.
We are pleased to have shaped this technology together with our research partners, and we will continue, step by step, with research aimed at extending the time people can live in good health.”
