The fundraising scandal engulfing Reform UK?has deepened as British police have announced they are investigating Nigel Farage’s populist party over potential violations of electoral law.

Channel 4 News aired a report last week showing senior Reform officials appearing to discuss how to circumvent electoral law to accept foreign donations. Without naming Reform, London’s Metropolitan Police said Wednesday that reports received after the broadcast would be added to the allegations in an “ongoing investigation” into a political party.

“Detectives have assessed the information provided and determined that there are potential offenses requiring investigation,” the police said in a statement. “The potential offenses are similar in nature to matters already under investigation by the Met’s Special Enquiry Team relating to donations made to the same political party.”
