An investigation by Dutch nonprofit Global Rights Compliance has revealed new details about the exploitative tactics of a Russian labor-brokering platform that employs North Korean workers in violation of international law ¡ª benefiting Moscow¡¯s war effort in Ukraine.
The report, released Thursday, offers striking detail into the practices of Moscow-based businessman Vladimir Sokolov, who directs the Black Horse group of companies and KNDR.su, an online platform that helps Russian employers source North Korean workers.?
Sokolov¡¯s businesses specialize in importing Chinese and European manufacturing equipment and include at least two sites connected to Russia¡¯s military-industrial complex and an agricultural commodity export business catering to the North. Sokolov was sanctioned by the European Union earlier this month ¡°for promoting and facilitating commercial and industrial cooperation projects involving¡± North Korea.
