If ski jumper Ryoyu Kobayashi is feeling pressure about defending his gold medal at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics next month, he isn’t showing it.
Appearing calm and collected, Kobayashi spoke about his prospects for the Feb. 6-22 Winter Games at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan on Monday.
“Ski jumping is a tough sport,” Kobayashi said. “There are ups and downs, it’s contingent on various conditions and it’s difficult to win by points. My goal is to show big flights, to build excitement at the venue and the medals will follow.”
