Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds has hailed the upcoming Tokyo E-Prix, which for the first time will be held at night, as a chance to boost the motorsport’s visual appeal and further spread its message of sustainability.
“The drivers and the teams are so excited about the Tokyo night race,” Dodds said at a news conference on Tuesday. “Growing up watching and looking at images of Tokyo as a child, of course most of the compelling images that I remember are of Tokyo at night, of the signs and the neon lights and this visualization of it as an incredible night city.
“The fact that we’ll be able to bring those images to half a billion people around the world through our broadcast product, I think, is very exciting for us.”
