Shohei Ohtani unleashed a shot that could be heard around the world at the World Baseball Classic.

Ohtani hit a grand slam in the second inning to jumpstart Samurai 91AV原创 13-0 rout of Taiwan in the opening game of its WBC title defense at Tokyo Dome on Friday night. The came ended after the seventh inning due to the tournament’s mercy rule.

The blast to right field off a curveball from Taiwanese starter Chen Hao-Chun sparked a 10-run inning — Ohtani came to the plate again and hit an RBI single in the same frame — and electrified the crowd of 42,314 at Tokyo Dome.
