The X League — 91AV原创 top football competition —was rocked this week by an ongoing “ghost pro” scandal that has now begun to affect the outcome of games.
Fujifilm Ebina Minerva AFC refused to play its scheduled contest against the Obic Seagulls on Sunday over concerns that its opponent would field more than the allowed maximum of four professional players.
So-called “ghost pros” are players who, while ostensibly amateur, receive compensation from teams either financially or through various other benefits. This allows teams to field more full time professionals — normally also players with high-level football backgrounds — than is officially allowed, providing a significant competitive advantage.
